O's Fun Toddler Summer Bucket List

I copied and pasted this blog post from my other blog, Bucket Let's Do List. I thought my readers over here may like to see it as well! It's about a month old but still not to late to start a Summer Bucket List if you haven't yet!

O in a garden last year (2013)

We live in a state that is super cold in the winter. We just moved here last spring so I had no idea how cold it was actually going to be. We didn't get out much this winter so I can't wait for summer to happen! Last summer O was just a little baby who could barely sit up but now she's an adventurous toddler whose on a mission to learn anything and everything. So I decided to start a summer bucket list for her so we can make sure to do some fun things while it's warm and we can go outside. I'm sharing this now, as oppose to after we complete it, so that you can make a bucket list with your kids this summer too! This little mini bucket list is so that we don't let the summer slip by without having any fun. That's what bucket list are about, making sure you get the things done that you really want to do before you run out of time. So O and I are ready to conquer her bucket list once the weather warms up and will continue to do so until we just can't stand to be outside any longer. We'll be updating this page as we cross things off so be sure to check back and view our progress throughout the summer. So without further ado here is O's Fun Toddler Summer Bucket List:

  1. Visit all Parks in our town-We have 26 parks in our town so O and I are going to be sure to visit them all! Only a few of them have playgrounds but we'll still run around and have fun at the other ones [13/26]
  2. Swing in a swing
O couldn't quite pet the chicks last year
  3. Pet an animal
  4. Swim in the ocean
  5. Slide down a slide by myself
  6. Go to 4 festivals – Our town and the neighboring towns seemed to have festivals and events going on every weekend last summer. We had fun going to a few of those so this year we want to go to at least 4 [4/4]
    O winning a carnival game (2013)
  7. Do an art project
  8. Be a better swimmer – She goes to swim lessons once a week but this summer we're going to an 8 week course that meets 4 days a week!
  9. Go to some historic sites around town – There are a lot of free places around the area that we haven't explored and we've lived here almost a year! This summer we're going to find some of the historic sites and learn about our new towns history.
  10. Go Geocaching – The parks and recreation department here has a fun geocaching project around the various parks in our town. Find it at RangerRickTrails.com Also be sure to check out your parks and recreation department to see what free (or cheap) things are going on in your town this summer.
    Hiking last year
  11. Cloud Watch
  12. Do the story walk – Our town has a story walk where a story is laminated and put along a trail and you read it as you walk along the trail.
  13. Go on a picnic
  14. Build a sandcastle
  15. Go hiking

  19. Collect Seashells
  20. Go to the zoo [We've been to two!]

  22. Play “I'm gonna get you” outside with mom and dad - She likes to be chased
  23. Ride my car around outside – She has a little motorized car she got for her birthday this winter. She can drive it just not steer very well so I can't wait to see what it's like when she doesn't run into the wall.
  24. Go to the library once a week – We already do this she just wants to make sure we keep doing it
  25. Learn through experience – I think learning through experience is the best form of learning so O wants to be sure to learn through doing
  26. Watch boats down at the lake
